How to keep your office safe during the pandemic
Guidance for people who work in or run offices, contact centres and similar indoor environments.
Hand sanitising stations
Provide hand sanitiser in multiple locations in addition to washrooms. In addition, provide regular reminders and signage to maintain personal hygiene standards.
Stay 2 metres apart
Where possible, you should keep people 2m apart to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. You must ensure that workers and other people visiting your workplace understand and comply with the measures you put in place.
Open windows and doors
Good ventilation reduces the concentration of the virus in the air and therefore reduces the risks from airborne transmission. This happens when people breathe in small particles (aerosols) in the air after someone with the virus has occupied an enclosed area.
Disinfect surfaces regularly
Frequently clean objects and surfaces that are touched regularly including door handles and keyboards, and make sure there are adequate disposal arrangements for cleaning products.
Avoid face-to-face meetings
Consider holding meetings virtually by using video or telephone conferencing technology.
Limit capacity to the toilet
Measures to limit the number of users at any one time, perhaps a one in one out system, either self-regulated with clear signage, or overseen by an attendant.
